Front Lever Tutorial

Before starting the drills, it’s essential to warm up your upper body with some basic stretches, including shoulder dislocations and wrist rotations.

Here are the progressions to work towards achieving the Front Lever: 

1.Tuck Legs Apart: Start by hanging from the rings with your legs tucked and slightly apart. Engage your core and straighten your upper body. Hold this position for a few seconds and repeat for multiple sets. 

2.Tuck Legs Close: The next progression is to tuck your legs closer together. This exercise is more challenging than the previous one and will help build conditioning for the next step. 

3.Straddle Lever: This exercise involves holding the rings with your hands and spreading your legs apart in a straddle position. This progression increases the load on your shoulders and elbows and is an excellent preparation for the full Front Lever. 

4.Full Front Lever: Keep your body straight and parallel to the ground, with your arms extended and gripping the rings. Hold this position for as long as possible.

Tips to help you progress towards the Front Lever:

1.If you find it challenging to maintain your grip strength, you can perform alternative one-arm holds for 10, 20, or 30-second sets.

2.If you have limited mobility, you can improve the range of motion by doing skin the cat. This exercise is excellent for combining benefits for the grip and mobility while building some spatial awareness to be comfortable turning upside down.
